Worthy Officers, Brothers, and Sir Knights, |
| |
In September we introduced bingo to St John Vianney, hosted the Annual Right-to-Life Dinner, and said goodbye and God Speed to Archbishop Christopher Coyne. So far in October we have cooked brunch for Birthright. Our 1st Friday Holy Hour endures, and we will add Cor Formation this month. Thank you to all of you who made these events a success. Let’s maintain our momentum through the Fall.
What do you think about this time of year? I think about how Fall is my favorite Season due to the colors, smells, and crisp cool air. I like being able to go out knowing there are not so many bugs and mosquitos. Fall includes my favorite Holiday-Thanksgiving. A special time to be thankful for God’s Blessings, and the love of family and friends (a celebration of the greatest commandment to love God and neighbor). Even Halloween, or All Hallow’s Eve, is an opportunity to reflect on what is important in this life. We pray for All Souls and the possibility of becoming All Saints. After all, everyone who makes it to heaven is a saint.
Finally, I also remember the motto I first heard during my exemplification of the 1st Degree; Tempus Fugit, Memento Mori (Time flies, remember death). This Fall we begin our Cor Formation on October 21st at 10 AM at Saint John Vianney Church. This is a good season, and Cor is a good venue to begin the process of ensuring that your next life will be joyful.
Vivat Jesus! |

Our esteemed Council Chaplain begins a new series about the Eucharist in The Acts of the Apostles. Fr. Tim begins with a passage from the Gospel of Luke. Luke is also believed to be the author of The Acts of the Apostles. The Eucharist is the “source and summit of the Catholic Church.” Jesus initiated the New Covenant by the "four-fold actions of Taking, Blessing, Breaking, and Giving of the bread turned into His Body." Our Holy Church sustains this Sacrament though the same four-fold actions at every Mass.

There are many opportunities to serve!
Your council conducts monthly Bingo at St. John Vianney Parrish Hall on the third Thursday. We are going to need you all to commit to supporting this every month. The more volunteers, the lighter the load.
In addition to prayer we have Knights in need of visitation. Don Sutton visitation is currently suspended by his daughter Joy. More to follow. He is still at Villa Rehab on 7 Forest Hill Drive in ST. Albans, VT. He is in Room 9.
George Stevens is still at the Burlington Health and Rehab, 300 Pearl St., now in Room 511. Morning visits are best.
Bob Wilkens is now at The Residence at Quarry Hill. 465 Quarry Hill Road, South Burlington, VT 05403. The view from Bob's corner studio room 302 is great! Oh and his phone number is 802-497-2275. Best time to visit is 9:30-10:30 AM or 3-4:30 PM.
Bev Newman, Ray's widow, is at Harbor Village, Room 306.
Note: if you would like a visitation, please call us!
Check the Save the Date section for other events.
If none of these interest you, ask us how you can help-we have more ideas. We want to hear your ideas too on how to pay forward our many blessings. |
