Worthy Officers, Brothers, and Sir Knights, |
| |
"In all circumstances, give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus." - 1 Thes 5:18
Gratitude! Brothers, we have no one to credit for being alive other than God. And when we rebelled and sinned and worshipped other gods, He did not abandon us, but sent His only Son Jesus incarnate as one of us to lead us back to Him in fellowship. Even though we owe Him everything, He continued to give Himself for our salvation-even dying as a falsely accused criminal on the cross. His motive? Loving mercy. He conquered death and offered us eternal life if we believe in Him and accept His teaching, graces, and participate in the sacraments. The Eucharist is a perpetual “thanksgiving” and spiritual food until Jesus returns to take the living and dead up to final judgement. None of us can earn heaven, but by our Faith and our Works we demonstrate to Him that we believe; that we love Him above all others, and love our neighbors like ourselves. We should give thanks always for our many blessings, life, opportunity, family, love, faith and hope. This is the season to reflect and say, “thank you, Lord”. What does genuine gratitude lead to? Worship! This Thanksgiving should begin with attendance at Mass, true worship and gratitude, in humility. Say a special blessing for a meal shared, and loved ones appreciated.
Vivat Jesus!

The Last Business Meeting was held on OCT 11 at 6:30 PM. There were 20 in attendance, including four on Zoom. The meeting was suspended for the conduct of the Exemplification of Charity, Unity and Fraternity. We installed one new member, Dcn Luis Gonzalo, and exemplified a member Doctor from Richmond Council. We had pizza and Salad prior to the meeting. The council passed a Motion to apply left over Right to Life funds to the benefit of the Bishop’s Annual Appeal in the amount of $400.
The Last Officer Meeting was held on November 7 at 6:30 PM. There were eleven in attendance, including four online. We talked about Warning the very generous donation from the Newman Family. The recommendation is a memorial scholarship. We also determined that the budget item “Shriners Bingo” was supposed to be Ronald McDonald House Bingo in the amount of $500. We have never sponsored a Shriners game before, but traditionally sponsor RMDH Bingo games. Our newest online member Jim Clark discussed the ins and outs of outdoor fish frying for our Lenten mission. He offered to gather additional cost information for the council to consider the investment. Coats for Kids will be distributed soon. Invitations will go out for the Special People’s party and Ted requested an advance of the $500 budget. This was approved. DCN Luan Tran will graduate soon from the seminary and begin serving with Fr. Pat Forman in Barre, VT in JAN. His Ordination is anticipated in the spring. We will conduct an Exemplification on December 12.
The Next Business Meeting will take place on November 4 at 6:30 PM in person and on Zoom. We will vote on the last business meeting minutes, and on the question about the application of the Newman Family Donation. There will be more discussion about the Lenten Fish Fry and upcoming events. Worthy Lecturer Bernie will talk about St Albert the Great (NOV 19), and sing the song Hail Holy Queen Enthroned Above. At 5:30 PM we will enjoy home-made chili, cornbread and dessert. All members welcome. |

There is always a way to make a contribution. Last month Echoes of Grace was an excellent opportunity to work with high school students and learn a lot more about the lives and contributions of the Saints. Also a safe way to get a little spooked out on All Hallowed Eve. |
