Council 7525 Business Meeting Minutes October 14, 2021.

1. Call to Order:  Called to order by GK Mike Bullock at approximately 7:45 PM (after Exemplification). Thirteen council members attended in person. On Zoom was the Worthy Lecturer, Bernie Prendergast. Total number of attendees was 14.

2. Opening Prayer:  The Lord's prayer was led by DCN Bill Glinka.

3. Pledge of Allegiance:  Recited and led by GK Mike Bullock

4. Approve Minutes of Prior Meeting:  Meeting minutes of last meeting (September 9, 2021) were reviewed electronically by the membership prior to the meeting. No changes were recommended, and the minutes were approved as written.

5. Chaplain’s Message:  None.  Chaplain was not present.

6. Grand Knight's Report:

Grand Knight referred to the last minutes, latest Newsletter, and Meeting Agenda for additional details.

Installation of Council/District 3 Officers will be 16 October after the 4 PM Mass at Saint Joseph's Cathedral.   

Our Council continues to conduct a First Friday Holy Hour from 3-4 PM at SJV. We lead the scriptural Rosary during Benediction. The next Holy Hour will be NOV 5 from 3-4 PM. Meet 10 minutes before 3 downstairs to plan hour.

Collection for People with Intellectual Disabilities (Tootsie Roll) went well. We collected $1,617.48. We need to vote on where to send the net proceeds. Check goes to the State Council, and they keep 20% for Camp O'Hagan. The balance of 80% goes back to the Council as a check(s) to our designated charity(ies). Discussion followed; motion made, seconded, and approved to send whole 80% to Special Olympics. Worthy Warden to work with Dan Smith to present check to Special Olympics at Saint Catherine as they collected the most monies.

Age Well is looking for volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels. See Newsletter for details. Commitment is about 2 hours/week.

The Budget Committee is finally going to meet on 27 OCT at 5 PM at SJV.

Our Worthy Treasurer is back at home and starting to cook the books again. Hopefully we will all be able to dine on a delicious menu of reports soon.

November 13 is the Vermont K of C Day of Prayer for Clergy. Please join us from 12-1 PM at SJV.

7. Financial Reports

Financial Secretary:

Morgan Stanley: $500,644.89

Checking balance: $21.456.90

Treasurer:  Report not available.  Look for report next month.

8. Membership:   Chris Johnson, Ray Bouchard and Dan Smith are now all third-degree Knights. 

9. Other Reports:  - None

10. Unfinished Business:

WARNINGS

Will the Council purchase 2 boxes of Coats for Kids for $500? Motion made and seconded; after discussion, approved. Charles will order the coats and distribute with help from Brad.

11. New Business (new motions):

Father Tim will be back around Thanksgiving.

"People with special needs" is correct term of address.

Council agreed to host both the People with Special Needs and Council Christmas Parties this year. Tentative date is Sunday Dec 5 or 12th. Need to check availability of the SJV Hall and the willingness of folks to attend. Kathy Barrett will contact some of the participants from last years to see if they will attend -we will need to request money for presents for party at next month’s meeting.

Cards to widows need to be sent out. Bernie has been doing this. Bernie set up a Memorial Mass for deceased Council Members. The date in 2021 is 11/11/21 at the 8:30 Mass at SJV. Next year it will be on November 1st.

Worthy Chancellor recognized Sir Knights Mike Bullock, Dave Martin, and Dave Bean who worked to help Aspire Together move into a new location.

Note from Claire Groleau to our council thanking us for attending/providing Honor Guard for husband PGK Norm Groleau's funeral was read by the Worthy Lecturer, Bernie.

Letter from Aspire Together was read by Worthy Trustee, Tom Gravelin. It is an invitation for Council Members to attend an Open House at their new location from 10-Noon on November 15.

13. Lecturer's Reflection:

Worthy Lecturer Bernie reflected on "Our Lady of the Rosary" and closed by singing Road of Life.

14. Grand Knight's Summary: -see the Minutes for the Grand Knights pet peeve. If you need something, say something. Let the PM, Ted, know if you do good works during the month.

15. Closing Prayer:

Amy and her mother (22 year old woman fighting cancer at Dana-Farber), Kevin and Chad Limoge, Vickie Linton (relative of DD3), George Stevens, James Read, Richard Waite, Robert Morris, Richard Gravelin (multiple foot fractures suffered in a bad fall), Gene Tofferi, Mike and Pam Audette, Joe Myers and Family, Jeffrey Claude Danis and family, Tom Westropp, Andrew Bolognani, PSD/PGK Don Sutton, Ray & Bev Newman, Ray Miller, Stuart Fath, David Bullock (chemotherapy), Tom Gravelin, Ben & Yvonne Gravelin, Harold Ponto, Wally Rooney, PGK Bob Audette, Bob Wilkens, Gerry Malavenda, Ed and Theresa Curtiss, all clergy and religious, victims and families of COVID-19, First Responders, and for new Members to join the Order.

DCN Bill led the Council in the recitation of the prayer for Canonization of Blessed Michael McGivney.
