Handicap Ramp

Handicap Ramp

On 8/14 – 8/16, 2022 a handicap ramp was constructed at the Dennis residence in Georgia Ctr., VT. This project was coordinated through Age Well for an elderly client requiring a cane or walker and is expected to be confined to a wheelchair in the near future. The residence already had a ramp in place. However the ramp was dilapidated and not to construction code for a ramp (too steep). This old ramp was removed and replaced with a new structure (see photo) extending approximately 28. This project required 16 hours of work over three days to complete. One of the four Age Well volunteers is a Knight with Council 7525 in South Burlington. Total mileage driven over the two days was 138 miles.

Age Well Volunteer

The services that my wife Sandy and I provide for Age Well are delivering for Meals on Wheels and doing grocery shopping for shut-ins.  One extra task that was completed included a move of furnishings for an elderly veteran.  For the first quarter of 2021, we have logged almost 900 miles of travel, volunteered 123 hours and delivered about 150 meals.
